Reading Response 2: The US Capitol

These are two elevation drawings of the US Capitol building.
The first image depicts a vertical cut of the capitol building to demonstrate both what the interior of the capitol looks like and the structure of the dome, while the second also has a vertical cut on the right half of the photo that demonstrates the dome’s structure and exterior more simplistically and focuses less on the interior of the building.
The first image demonstrates the final vision behind the capitol while the second demonstrates more of the thought process behind it.
The first image depicts the interior of the capitol in color which allows for a viewer to have a better understanding of what it may feel like to be inside the building, while the second photo depicts the structure and exterior of the building in black and white and the lack of color allows for this purpose to be more in the forefront.
The first image demonstrates how the structure of the building contributes to interior design while the second image demonstrates how the structure contributes to the exterior design.
