This project started in 2006 and wrapped up in 2006. The idea originated from an invitational competition to develop four apartment units that ranged from 125 to 140 meters in length. This project was chosen over others mainly because of its economic benefits, more sale-able surfaces, and lower floor space. This project was put together by a firm known as OFIS architects.http://www.ofis.si/eng/projects/housing/650_apartments.html

This project focused on the idea of creating more affordable housing options. With a demand of 650 apartments within 18 months, that meant that there had to be more than one apartment built a day, and having a low budget did not help the process.

Underneath the housing are two levels of parking for residents which is also beneficial in the sense that it reduces clutter on the streets. https://www.archdaily.com/3547/tetris-apartments-ofis-arhitekti/500ee6e328ba0d0cc7000c5d-tetris-apartments-ofis-arhitekti-image
Only the structural outer walls of each apartment were stationary. The inner walls that divided the apartment up allowed for individual customization, meaning that the walls can be repositioned as desired, which also gave variety to the designs of the apartments.

This project addresses the issue of affordability and appropriate housing in the architecture world. From the pictures seen above, you can tell that these apartments have a modern contemporary feel to them, and they’re aesthetic on the interior and exterior. What makes this project so great is that people from many socio-economic backgrounds can afford these apartments, not just wealthy people. http://www.ofis.si/eng/projects/housing/650_apartments.html
